Our Long-Term Vision for New Jersey
Lakayro’s long-term vision is to become a leading cultural arts organization across New Jersey — a place where Haitian and Afro-Diasporic traditions are taught with depth, where underserved youth and adults can access high-quality arts education regardless of cost, and where culture is a bridge between communities.
We envision a future with a permanent home for cultural dance training and performance; expanded free and low-cost classes in schools, libraries, and community centers; robust scholarship and mentorship pathways that carry young dancers from first class to college and career; and a network of partners that keeps Afro-Diasporic arts visible and valued in public life.
As we grow, our measure of success will remain the same: stronger, more connected communities where young people know who they are, where they come from, and where their culture can take them.
