LakayRo Heads to Branch Brook Park Fest This Saturday
LakayRo joins Branch Brook Park Fest in Newark, New Jersey as a community vendor this Saturday. Find us at the festival and learn how to become a vendor alongside us.
This Saturday, LakayRo steps out of the studio and into one of Newark's most beloved community gatherings. We are proud to join Branch Brook Park Fest as a community vendor, sharing our mission, our programs, and the culture that drives everything we do.
Why We Show Up at Community Festivals
Festivals like Branch Brook Park Fest are where culture meets community. They are the spaces where families, artists, small businesses, and neighbors come together around something shared. For a young cultural arts organization like LakayRo, showing up at these gatherings is not a side activity — it is part of the work.
When we set up a table at a festival, we are doing more than handing out flyers. We are making our organization visible to the community we serve. We are meeting families face to face, answering questions about our youth dance company, and inviting people who may never have heard of Haitian or Afro-Diasporic dance to encounter it for the first time.
Community is not built behind a desk. It is built at the park, at the festival, at the table where you hand someone a flyer and a conversation starts.
What to Expect at Our Table
Stop by the LakayRo table this Saturday and you will find:
- Information about our programs — including the Youth Dance Company, adult dance classes, and community workshops
- Details on the Genesis 2026 Youth Dance Company season — open to youth ages 8 to 17 years old
- Ways to get involved — volunteering, partnerships, and tax-deductible giving
- A chance to meet our team — and ask questions in person
We welcome families, dancers, educators, and anyone curious about culturally rooted arts education in New Jersey.

About Branch Brook Park
Branch Brook Park, located in Newark and Belleville, New Jersey, is the first county park in the United States and home to the nation's largest collection of cherry blossom trees. It has long been a gathering place for the communities of Essex County, and its festivals are a fixture of the regional cultural calendar.
We are honored to bring LakayRo's work to a park with that kind of history.
